Review: Heart of Venom

Reviewed by Jen

You would think that by now that the bad guys of Ashland would all know who Gin Blanco is, and get the hell out of her way.  After all, she kills everyone who does her wrong.  (Well, almost everyone, but we’ll get to Owen in a minute.)  But somehow, Harley Grimes missed the memo.

Who is Harley Grimes? you ask.  He is the dude responsible for destroying Sophia’s voice.  Years ago, he kidnapped and tortured her, and she only escaped once Fletcher came to rescue her.  Now that Gin’s mentor is gone, Grimes is back to finish what he started. [Read more…]

Review: A Dream Defiant

I came into this book excited about the premise.  Elijah is a black soldier in the British army of 1813.  Rose was the wife of one of his fellow soldiers.  But her husband died fighting over a ruby necklace that he found while looting.  Before he took his last breath, he gave the jewels to Elijah, making him promise to get the jewels to his wife.

Elijah keeps his word, bringing the necklace to Rose. But between her beauty and the worth of the rubies, she will need protection from the other soldiers.  [Read more…]

Review: Demons Unleashed (Books 1 – 3)

demon's bargainReviewed by Shelly

These novellas are very quick reads, some I liked, some I didn’t. I read the first three in the series in an anthology format and I’ll review them accordingly, all at once.

Book 1 – The Demon’s Bargain

The first book, The Demon’s Bargain, was a fun read. I’ve read Adler before and I do enjoy her writing style and this first in the series was no different. The premise of this entire series is about a post-apocalyptic world where Demons and Faes battle it out for supremacy over each other and humans. [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Pain

beyond painReviewed by Carrie

When the first book, Beyond Shame, was recommended to me as dystopian erotica, I was very skeptical.  My first thoughts were: it’s not in my normal wheelhouse of what I usually read and what the hell is dystopian erotica anyway? However, because so many bloggers and authors whose opinions I trust were raving, I decided to take a chance.  I am so glad I did because this series is defining what erotica should be: a compelling story interwoven with an off the charts sexual narrative.  If you haven’t started this series yet, go grab Beyond Shame.

Dallas O’Kane has taken over Sector 3, but it’s still a mess.  Things are starting to move fast and Dallas wants his right hand on the pulse.  Dallas wants Bren to take Six with him in hopes that her knowledge will help to foster goodwill and help get the sector under control. [Read more…]

Review: A Low Down Dirty Shane

low downReviewed by Jen

I am a big fan of the Secret McQueen world, so when I found out about this spinoff series, I was pretty excited. This story focuses on the vampire hunter Shane Hewitt. Secret fans will likely remember him as the smart-alec vampire hunter that our favorite member of the Tribunal was training in Keeping Secret.   This story falls shortly after that book –and references a few events there– but I don’t think a new reader would have even a little trouble jumping in here.

So, our buddy Shane is just minding his business, killing vamps one night, when he is accosted by a sexy Druid who is in the middle of a fight with a giant troll.  He ends up joining the scuffle, and after their victory, the fiery Siobhan asks him for his help with another problem. [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Control

beyond controlReviewed by Carrie

Remember when I told you to go read Beyond Shame for an unusually awesome erotic novel?  If you didn’t, turn back and go do it. If you did, welcome back for some more raunchy good times with the O’Kane gang as they continue to build their empire in the Sectors.  Book two in the Beyond series brings us Dallas and Lex’s story.

I was anxiously awaiting their story. Dallas is the ultimate alpha.  He is the self-made boss of Sector Four.  He fought his own way and formed his own gang.  No one dares to challenge Dallas except Lex and Lex is the only one Dallas lets get away with it.   They’ve had this push/pull thing going on even though it’s obvious to just about everyone that there is deep feeling between the two.  [Read more…]

Review: Moonlight

Despite his father’s urgings, Adam never really believed a mate was in his future.  He certainly never imagined she would be a jaguar.  After all, they’re the natural enemies of the werewolves.  But unexpected or not, a jaguar is exactly what fate has in mind for him.  Adam is actually hunting rogue jaguars in his town when he stumbles onto Lana for the first time.  He is amazed to discover that she doesn’t even know what she is; and he is even more shocked to realize that she is the woman destined to be his. Review: Beyond Shame

Dystopian erotica, you say? What the hell is that?  It’s the first book a series by Kit Rocha (the writing team of Bree Bridges & Donna Herren who also write under the pen name Moira Rogers).

Rocha has created a dystopian world that seems much like the Hunger Games.  There is the main city, Eden, where the wealthy and elite live.  Then there are the Sectors, land that had been destroyed by solar flares, where the rest of humanity has to scrounge and fight to survive. [Read more…]

Review: Raven’s Awakening by Ella Phoenix

Ravens Awakening_FINAL_1563x2500Reviewed by Shelly

This is not my first story from Phoenix and I can’t say that this one is my favorite or even one that I liked it as much as her Dragon Series. This story had promise and I’m not sure where I lost interest but I lost it early and frequently.

Chloe works for the government at the Smithsonian Institute in the Archive Department. With a PhD in Native American History, Chloe is in the basement cataloging relics. I had a problem with Chloe’s expectations throughout this story, but I’ll get into that in a little bit. While cataloging some rocks, Chloe runs across a stone that she’s seen in one of her many childhood dreams/nightmares. After stealing the relic and using it as her guide, Chloe sets off to find the correlation to her dreams. Mason Green is a procurer of Native American relics for anyone who’s willing to pay for his services. [Read more…]

Review: Bound by Love’s Gravity

bound by love's gravityReviewed by Shelly

The first in Ashlinn’s new series about the residents of Kinky, Kansas, this tells the story of Sarah Matthews, Deke Andrews and Adam Stanton. I’ve read Ashlinn’s It Takes Three to Fly, the 3rd in her Sweet Serenity series (which is about the neighboring town of Serenity) and to be honest, I didn’t like that one as much as I liked this one. At first glance, I thought these stories would be too tightly connected to be read independently because of the recurring characters but they can definitely be read as independents.

I’m not even sure what brought me to this story, but when I read the blurb for Sarah and her Doms’ story, I was immediately captivated and just kept on reading. [Read more…]
