Review: Love in the Afternoon

It’s amazing what you’ll find when you’re not looking. I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve read by Hines, I’d be lying if I tried, but I can say it’s a lot. This short piece is one of the her best. Even as short as it was, the writing on it is quite good and gives a lot to the reader.

From their first meeting ten years ago, Oriana Price has been very much in-like with Chase Henderson. As the best friend to Chase’s cousin, Oriana became a pseudo member of the family and witnessed the style and type of women that Chase goes out with and with that knowledge knew that she definitely wasn’t his type. All this changes on the night of Chase’s surprise birthday party. After his current fiancée gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar, Chase makes his own proposal to Oriana and that’s when the things get steamy.

The chemistry and sex between these two is muy caliente. What was even more impressive was mind-set. She knew that Chase’s proposal did not mean ‘I love you’ or even ‘I like you’ and for that dear readers I commend Hines. Never once did Oriana whine, bitch or moan about Chase’s choices. I can’t leave Chase out of the discussion. He had his own personal issues dealing with Oriana’s relationship with his family and needed a slight push to move his butt, cute butt that it is. There’s a scene when Chase is walking away from Oriana and you could just see it – did I already say hot.

Oriana’s best friend’s story is next and I’ll be checking that out.

Happy reading folks!
