Review: Love Lost

The second story in this series from Harmony Bryce is a quick 50-pages. The Anthony Brothers storyline is about a family that has a few different ethnic backgrounds and that in itself caught my eye and made for an interesting read. Markus Anthony, one of the five adopted sons of Simon and Mavis Anthony, and his lady love Savannah are having trouble.  After their reunion, Markus and Savannah are living together but Markus is having some time management issues, balancing home and work. Savannah is not happy and can help but wonder when/if Markus will notice. Can Markus make Savannah fall in love with him again?

For such a short story, Bryce does a good job of introducing these characters and kept me interested throughout. One of the things that I would have liked to see more of is the interaction between Markus and Savannah. I didn’t get a good sense of their relationship as a couple because of this lack of interaction. Markus’s relationship with his brothers was sweet to see, very typical of brotherly love that masks itself with competition. The couple from book 1, Jim and Mei-Ling, do make an appearance. Although I’ve not read their story, they were cute enough that I’ll have to go back and do that.

Overall, the pacing felt off and I did feel a little garbled because of the uneven flow from one scene to another. Now outside of that, the premise is good and has a lot of potential. This was a good story if you’re in the mood for a quickie. I don’t know what Bryce plans are for future story lines, but I would like to read about the parents of this brood of sons.

Happy reading folks!
