Review: Theirs to Cherish by Shayla Black

theirs to cherishReviewed by Jaimie

Theirs to Cherish is the eighth full length book in the Wicked Lovers series by the amazing Shayla Black.  If you haven’t been reading this series and are a fan of BDSM books, I highly recommend you get started right away because no one writes BDSM quite like Ms. Black.  She started long before the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon and gets even better with every book.  It has been a long wait for Callie and Thorpe’s story and I was really excited to dig in!

Callie Ward has been on the run for almost a decade, accused of killing her family.  With no way to prove her innocence, she had no choice but to walk away from her family fortune and name.  Hiding out in Club Dominion for the last 4 years, Callie has felt a sense of belonging for the first time in her life.  In other books in the series we have seen the bratty submissive doing everything in her power to tempt and taunt Dominion owner Mitchell Thorpe.  In an attempt to make her boss jealous, Callie begins submitting to Dominion newcomer Sean Kirkpatrick.  As she learns to let her guard down, the walls around her heart begin to melt too and Callie finds herself in love with both Sean and Thorpe.

Believing he has been doing the best thing for Callie by staying away from her, Thorpe has watched from the shadows as she submits to, and falls in love with Sean.  He doesn’t trust the other man, but when Callie finds out Sean isn’t who he says he is and takes off, the two men must team up to find out who is after her, and keep her safe.  I was a little worried at the beginning as to how the story was going to pull off having the two men end up with Callie at the end given all the animosity and tension between them, but it came together in a believable and sweet way.

I’ve loved every book in this series and one of the primary reasons is the way that Shayla always makes sure to integrate the characters we’ve fallen in love with from past stories, in every book.  Sometimes its just a brief mention, other times they are part of the action, but you always get updates about what they are up to.  I wish all authors did that because once you fall in love with the characters it sucks to never hear about them again.  In this book we got to see a bit of Logan which was awesome and I’m really hoping we will get Axel’s story soon.  I have a feeling its going to be realllly good.

Typically in these kinds of stories I find myself rooting for one guy over another but both Sean and Thorpe had me rooting for them.  Each man provided something that Callie needed and the sex was smoking hot!  Sometimes the woman on the run to protect the men trope can be annoying, but in this case Callie wasn’t worried about them getting hurt, she didn’t want them in trouble for harboring a fugitive.  That was a little more reasonable than the woman believing the big strong men she loves will be killed if she sticks with them.  My only complaint is that we have to wait a year for the next book in the series!!
