Review: Seducing the Bridesmaid by Katee Robert

seducing the bridesmaidReviewed by Carrie

This is the 3rd book in the Wedding Dare category romance series put out by Brazen.  Even though I’m not a fan of shorter books, I’ve been enjoying reading this series as a nice relaxing escape.  This one, however, didn’t work for me as much.

Regan Wakefield is a take charge ballbuster.  When she sees something she wants, she makes a plan and goes full blast for it.  Regan is all prepared to go after the equally successful and driven best man, Logan. She is irritated when another groomsman keeps getting in her way.

Brock McNeil is used to ladies falling at his feel when his southern charm rolls off his tongue, but is stymied when Regan will have none of his game.  They trade some fun barbs back and forth that only serve to heighten the sexual attraction they have going between them.  Regan figures the only way to get this guy off her back is to get him on his.  They share a quickie in Brock’s room with Regan totally in control.  Instead of putting out the fire, it only serves to fan the flames.

Regan has a very single minded focus about life and knows that easy going rich-boy, Brock, can never be a part of it.  Brock is content to let the world think he rides on his family’s coattails because it’s easier than putting himself out there, just to be told he’d never measure up to his golden older brother.

The gender roles are definitely reversed here with Regan being the confident and aggressive one and Brock coming off a bit needy chasing her.  I liked seeing a confident heroine but I felt like Regan’s reasons for keeping Brock at arm’s length were a bit flimsy.  I missed a bit of softness to her.

On the other hand, Brock was one big ball of vulnerability.  Again, I like seeing a hero that can show his feelings, but I needed a little more strength to him.  It took a conversation with a friend that basically told him to grow up and by that time the book was almost finished.

I may have felt the relationship was a bit unbalanced, but I did enjoy the progression of the other bridesmaid/groomsmen stories.  I look forward to Logan & Sophie’s story to cap off the series.
