Review: Kithra by Dani Worth

kithraReviewed by Shelly

A short but good one, the first in Dani Worth’s Kithra Regenesis series is a scifi, m/m/f with all the right things to make it a fun read. This is my first by this author and the other stories in the series have already been added to my TBR list. The world building is one of my favorite things, good imagery, and I can’t leave out the dialogue, clever.

Pilot Lux Moyans doesn’t do relationships and she certainly doesn’t do two guys in her bed. Along with her second in command, Kol Frega, Lux is called to action on Kithra. Her future plans to buy her own ship might have to be put on hold when Egan Lothbrun is the other male assigned to their yearlong assignment of making Kithra once again a habitable planet.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked all three of these characters and how well the story flowed, especially as it’s a novella. Lux’s personality, although brash at times, was fun because she had many moments of being a woman with feelings. I liked that Worth didn’t make her out to be a bull in a china shop stupid or a whimpering heroine. She had moments of angst and fear that made her very likable.

Big lug of a guy, Kol, is the brains among them. He built the ship that carries them and he’s been fighting his attraction for Lux for a few years; lucky for Lux that fighting was done in the weight room so there are lots of muscles to contend with. His back story carries much of the book and the more it was unraveled, the more I liked him.

Egan and Kol’s history wasn’t what I expected – in a good way. I wasn’t even sure I was going to like him; at first glance I thought he would be this totally empty-headed pretty thing that served no purpose other than sex. Boy, was I surprised as to the depth of his character. If you’re a fan of m/m/f that has actual plot lines this is a good choice.

Happy Reading folks!
