Review: One Night of Sin by Elle Kennedy

one night of sinReviewed by Shelly

This is my first but not my last from Elle Kennedy. The way this read made me think that these are spin off characters from another series – not sure which one, but the vibe was there. One Night of Sin is the first novella in the ‘After Hours’ series and is about good girl Skyler Thompson on a first date with a forgettable character at the all-exclusive club Sin. Former MMA fighter, Gage Holt, is one of the 3 owners of the nightclub. During her date with the Captain of the Douchebags, Skyler gets her first look and taste of Gage. And Gage being the responsible citizen that he is, tries to be the good guy with Skyler but she does tempt him to distraction.

This is a fast paced novella and the action –what little there is of it– kept me turning the pages. Initially, I was skeptical that I would like either Skyler or Gage because Skyler is 24 and the conversation of hooking up is frequent and I’m not a fan of the risks that entails, because truly there’s not enough suspension of reality in this world to make me ever be a fan of that. I was expecting Gage to be the MMA alpha male who grunts instead of using his words, but despite some other pesky vices (I’m not talking about his dirty, dirty mouth either) I liked him well enough.

The sex between these two wasn’t as frequent as I’ve found some plot-less erotica but these two do get it on a few times. The little bit of action that surrounded Gage was nice and engaging, and I wasn’t ready for that part to end. The one person whose story I’m truly fascinated by is Gage’s little brother, because that young man has a lot of explaining to do. But I suspect this series will be based around the owners of the club. If you’re in the mood for a quick read and MMA guys put you in your happy place – give this one a go.

Happy Reading folks!
