This is a very different read than the first story in the Miller’s ‘Kinky Connect Chronicles’ series. In the first story, the heroine Mimi was single, assertive, very sure of her worth, and even a bit of a jerk.
In “Renewed,” I found the heroine, Tanya, much more likable. She’s just recently separated from her husband because she found him in her bed with another woman. Turns out, that wasn’t his first time to cheat and I’m sure it wasn’t his second time either. Tanya is really torn up about the dissolution of her marriage because she expected to be married forever and she certainly didn’t expect her husband to cheat. I felt empathy for her because what young woman who’s going into a marriage especially with a man 16 years her senior expects for her fairy tale to have that kind of an abrupt ending.
You might ask how she ends up on the kinky website, there’s a plausible explanation. Once she’s on the site she’s contacted by JapKendoll – there’s a plausible explanation for that too. Kenji has his preferences and he’s not too shy to share – not one bit and these two begin what I can only describe as a tenuous conversation followed by sex that included the prerequisite airport bathroom sex. It’s stories like this that continue to make me visibly shake and use an excessive amount of hand sanitizer and towels when I have to use a public restroom – I don’t like touching the jizz of strangers. But enough about me.
I absolutely liked both of the characters. I really enjoyed Tanya and I would actually read more about her if the author ever decides to lengthen this short story. I liked Kenji for Tanya because I liked the way he appreciated her and treated her. There wasn’t a lot of time spent on the mutual admiration society and I was never so grateful. I’ll happily continue reading this series.
Don’t bypass that epilogue, it’s totally worth it.
Happy Reading Folks!
