Review: Persuasion by Violetta Rand

Persuasion is the first book in the Sons of Odin MC series by Violetta Rand. The description of the book intrigued me, despite not typically being a fan of motorcycle club stories, and I am really glad I gave it a shot. It had everything I love about a good book – great story, a kick ass hero and heroine, and smoking hot sex.

Lang Anderson finds himself the leader of the Sons of Odin MC after the former leader winds up in jail.  After the death of his parents left him responsible for his three younger sisters, the last thing Anderson needs is to be dealing with the politics in the club.  As the grandson of one of the founding members of the group, he finds himself left with no options but to take over the club that he truly loves.

Lily Gallo is a high school guidance counselor who has relocated to Texas to escape her parents’ increasingly acrimonious divorce and to start fresh.  Her best friend Tina has been living in Texas for a while and she figures, why not live a little?  The two go out to a club where she meets Lang, and the sparks fly.  Lily isn’t a one night stand kinda girl, and despite the sizzling chemistry between them, it doesn’t go any further.

Flash forward a few weeks to the first day of school.  The eldest of Lang’s little sisters has been struggling since the death of their parents, and one of the requirements for her to be allowed to remain in school is that she work with the school’s counselor.  When Lang and Lily meet up again, it’s clear that the pull between them is as strong as it was when they met.  It is also clear to Lang that his sister is actually receptive to Lily and opening up, and that makes him want the guidance counselor even more.

As is typical with these stories, Lily and Lang fall hard and fast for each other.  Their chemistry is off the charts when they finally give in to their attraction for each other, but there is plenty of other story going on, so they aren’t completely shoved down our throats.  Lang’s devotion to his sisters is adorable and there was no question of whether Lily would accept the girls as part of her life with him.

Someone is harboring a grudge against Lang and is using his loved ones to get to him.  Instead of being the shrinking violet, Lily stands right beside her man, fighting hard for his sister and embracing his life even if she doesn’t fully agree with it.  I really liked that she wasn’t just an arm candy accessory for Lang, because that would have pissed me off.

Overall this was a great book, and I’m now a big fan of Ms. Rand’s work. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series!!
