This is novella 4 in Jenika Snow’s ‘A Real Man’ series and my least favorite. Hugo, the Russian businessman (he came off as mafia), is back from Europe to celebrate Sabine’s college graduation. Getting in late from his long flight, Hugo goes to his friend’s home where he’ll stay in the guest house.
On his way in, he sees Sabine swimming in her black string bikini and he can’t help but stand and stare because you see, he’s come for her as he realizes that she’s the one for him. Okay ya’ll, the friend that Hugo is staying with is Sabine’s father (and mother). And did I mention that Hugo is 50 years old and Sabine is barely legal at 21?
I don’t mind an age gap, I really don’t, but when your old a*s is 50 and you’re trying to get with someone who’s 21 – you ARE a reprobate. I don’t care if you’re a dude or a chick in either role, I’m not cool with that. If the younger person was older, say in their 30’s I think the chance for mental and physical maturity is much more. And this dude was eyeing Sabine since she was 18 when she graduated high school, his buddy’s daughter. WTH is wrong with people?!
Anyway, so after he buys her love… umm I mean offer her a few baubles… with gold, diamonds and clothes, they get it on. To be fair, she said that she didn’t want the diamonds and clothes, but she didn’t really mean it because she not only accepted each item, she wore them immediately.
The smut factor isn’t as high as the first 3 in the series, but then again, I just couldn’t read entire lines of their sexy times. What probably distressed me more than the age difference was that Sabine barely had a voice in the story. I mean that literally, chick barely spoke. But hey, maybe I’m asking for too much. All’s well that ends well.
Happy reading folks!
