Review: Sweet Dreams by Dana Marie Bell

It’s been many a moon since I read the 1st story in Bell’s ‘Halle Pumas’ series and I’ve had this book 2 in my stash for goodness knows how long. This picks up directly after book 1 ends – at the masquerade ball/dance. This read quite well as a standalone. I won’t worry about being able to follow if you’ve not read book 1. If I can keep up, trust me you can too.

After Emma’s BFF Becky’s attack from that crazy Livia, beta Simon is the one to come to her rescue. This is a pretty short story, so I can’t tell too much or I’ll ruin it for you.

Becky’s had the hots for Simon, but Simon’s been doing his thing and isn’t really interested until the big physical attack against Becky. There’s the ‘you’re my mate’ conversation that happens, and Becky is pretty fine that. She actually doesn’t really put up much of a fight for any of it. Then there’s Simon who’s finally realized that his mate has been in front of him the entire time. I still don’t know why he didn’t recognize the mating call prior to now. But…

The sexting is frequent with lots of ‘marking’ of skin by teeth, but all in all, not overly done if you remember the genre. The chemistry between the two was actually pretty good, and one thing that I really liked was that Becky wasn’t the typical pin-up heroine, she’s kinda skinny with small chest parts but Simon made sure she know how much he appreciated all her parts.

The antagonist was sorta lame. I wish more was done to really mess things up, but that aspect of the story was done away with quickly, much too quickly.

Happy reading folks!
