Review: Fantasy of Freedom by Kelly St Clare

Why do all the good series have to end?! Really? Why?!?! *sigh*

This fourth book in The Tainted Accords series wraps up Olina’s journey, which spans three worlds, and has more ups and downs than a rollercoaster.

Olina and Jovan, with the backing of Jovan’s army, the barracks fighters and Olandon are set to wage war on Tatum Avanna- Olina’s psychotic mother. It’s now or never- the people of Osolis are being starved to death by their evil ruler and now that Olina knows, she can’t just sit by and let it happen. It’s time to go to war and take her spot as rightful ruler of Osolis. And in doing so, create peace among all three worlds and their people. No problem right?

As I’ve come to expect with this series, nothing is ever that easy or straightforward for Olina and the gang. Just as they make ground in one area, there’s something or someone there to throw a spanner in the works. And it’s so. Damn. Addictive.

It was always pretty obvious how this series had to end, but there were so many times when it really didn’t look like it would! That’s what kept me turning pages. And it’s the best thing about this authors writing. Even when you think you know where she’s going, there’s always some little tidbit thrown in to put a doubt in your mind.

All the ongoing storylines are nicely wrapped up- Kedrick’ assasin, Olina’s father, Jovan and Olina’s relationship. Some were more to my liking than others, but I could respect the way the author went with each of them. And there’s some set up for the series of spin off novella’s the author is writing, which makes me super happy. At least I don’t have to say a complete goodbye to this series, but gosh I’m heartbroken to be losing Olina and Jovan!

As with the other books in this series, I’m rating it an A! It is so rare for me to love every book in a series (I can only think of one other where I gave every book 5 stars) but that’s how great this one is. A good end to what is overall, an amazing series. Ms St Clare is an author to watch in the future, that is for sure.
