Review: Deep Into Trouble by Dawn Ryder

Reviewed by Jaimie

Deep Into Trouble is the third book in the Unbroken Heroes series by Dawn Ryder and this one grabs you from the get-go! Saxon and Ginger were a bit of an odd couple with one being spunky and fun and the other being serious and straight-laced. They worked in so many ways and you couldn’t help but cheer for them!

Ginger Boyce is a librarian who is dying to break out of her shell and live a little. While attending a conference in New Orleans she takes a walk on the wild side, with disastrous results. After witnessing a murder committed by a dangerous and elusive killer, Ginger is in desperate need of protection. Thankfully for her, Saxon’s team is tracking the same man.

Saxon Hale is as straight-laced and serious as they come. After dedicating his life to his job, he’s determined to hunt a man that betrayed their team, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve this. He wasn’t counting on a fiery librarian to turn his life completely around.

As soon as he sees Ginger among the lowlifes who associate with the man he’s tracking, Saxon knows that she doesn’t belong. While she is in town for a book fair, Ginger had run into a stripper named Kitty who seemed to love one of the authors that Ginger would be seeing. She gets an autographed book for Kitty and while she’s there to deliver it, she witnesses a man the world thinks is dead kill someone. Thankfully for her, Saxon had followed her and was able to pull her out and protect her. Given the power of the men that are after her, he knows keeping her alive won’t be easy, but he also knows she holds the key to taking the bad guys down.

One of the men after Ginger is the man who trained Saxon, so keeping one step ahead of him is proving to be quite tricky. When a concerned friend called in Saxon’s brother Vitus, the hero from the last book in the series, he starts thinking outside the box to keep Ginger safe.

One of the things I like about this series is that the main “bad guy” has not been easily taken down. The good guys seem to win – but only to a degree. One of the worst men involved is actually growing in power and influence which is a refreshing change to a lot of these types of stories.

Ginger and Saxon were a sweet couple. She brings out the playful, fun side of him and while he initially doesn’t want a relationship, he doesn’t pull a dick move like a lot of these stories tend to do. He doesn’t dump her in order to save her and he doesn’t try to no worry her pretty little head while he saves the day. She is his equal.

The guys on his team are all great, and we saw the glimpses of a powerful story with the one woman on his team. When her story comes it is going to be fantastic!

Overall this was another great installment in the series. I’m looking forward to watching each one of the team members fall!!
