Review: Twisted Truths by Rebecca Zanetti

Reviewed by Jaimie

I am SO sad to be writing the final review for the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. This one and the Sin Brothers series, which are related, are two of my all-time favorite series and the final installment was bittersweet. Twisted Truths gave us Denver’s story and I could tell from the way he was hitting the bottle in the two previous books to forget Noni that his was going to be great. It did not disappoint!

Noni, a business owner who makes lotions and creams, is in a desperate situation. Her niece has been kidnapped and Noni is frantically trying to rescue her from her gangster father. The man likely killed her sister and Noni was named as the baby’s guardian. For now it is just her and her two aunts chasing dangerous criminals around the country but she knows she’s in over her head. Swallowing her pride, she posts all over the internet looking for the man who broke her heart the year before. Unfortunately for Noni, by plastering pictures of herself and Denver, she has welcomed Denver’s enemies to come after her as well. [Read more…]

Review: Dark Justice: Hunt by Jenna Ryan

Reviewed by Jaimie

I love a good romantic suspense book and I’m always on the look-out for new authors. Dark Justice: Hunt is the second book in the Dark Justice series by Jenna Ryan, and this one kept me reading from the start! I had not read any of Ms. Ryan’s books before and I didn’t start at the beginning of the series. I definitely plan to go back and read the first one but I was still able to enjoy this one.

Dr. Melia Rose thought she had it all – great career, perfect marriage – she really couldn’t have asked for more. Until one night saw her life go up in flames. She’s not even sure what happened, but she blames herself for the end of her marriage. She spends three years jumping from city to city trying to avoid her pain but settles back in her home town. Dr. Rose takes over the local GP practice and wants to focus on getting back to “normal”. And just when she starts to get in a groove, an associate of her ex-husband shows up and blows her comfortable lie to hell. [Read more…]

Review: Love Me Again by Jaci Burton

Love Me Again is the seventh book in the Hope series by Jaci Burton. I was introduced to Ms. Burton’s work with her Wild Riders series and even though this one is quite different, I love everything she writes. The Hope series typically has sweet, loveable stories and this one is no exception.

Loretta Simmons returns to Hope, Oklahoma, after her marriage went down in flames. She allowed her parents to influence her as a teenager so she dumped the man she really loved to marry the now ex-husband. She works hard to make life as stable as possible for her daughter, running a bookstore in town, starting a book club and doing her best to be an independent woman. The only thing that could throw her new life out of balance is the man renovating the building next door. After avoiding him when she returned to town, she can’t avoid it any longer. [Read more…]

Review: Burning Up by Jennifer Blackwood

Burning Up is the first book in the Flirting with Fire series by Jennifer Blackwood. This was my first experience with Ms. Blackwood’s work and I am so glad I gave this one a shot! The book was sweet and predictable, but well written and really enjoyable.

Erin Jenkins is an unemployed school teacher who lost her job due to budget cuts. She has returned to her hometown for the first time in ten years and that was definitely not in her life plan. Erin’s mother is thrilled that her daughter is back in town and she is doing her best to convince her to make it permanent. Just when she’s not sure she can cope with being back in town, she runs in to her older brother’s best friend – the guy she’s always carried a torch for. Suddenly the summer starts to look up! Review: Collision Point by Lora Leigh

Reviewed by Jaimie

Collision Point is the first book in the Brute Force series by the amazing Lora Leigh and I cannot tell you how excited I was to read this one. This series is a spinoff of sorts from the Elite Ops series and the first book features Nathan/Noah’s brother Rory. I was reallllly hoping we would get his story, but when I realized the series was over I figured that wasn’t going to happen. Luckily I was wrong!

Riordan Malone, or Rory as his family calls him, is now a member of the Brute Force Agency. When we last saw him he was running the garage alongside his sister-in-law, but now that his it has been revealed that his brother isn’t actually dead, Rory needs to branch out. Given a job as a bodyguard, he finds himself quickly involved with the young woman he is protecting. While he’s out of town, she is kidnapped and beaten severely. Rory is gravely injured during the rescue. Six months later, the woman he can’t get out of his mind is on his doorstep. [Read more…]

Review: Dirty Money by Jessica Clare

Reviewed by Jaimie

After starting with the second book in the series and moving backwards, I found that I enjoyed this one even more than Dirty Scoundrel. Jessica Clare’s new series Roughneck Billionaires centers around brothers who happen to have land that was sitting on top of a lucrative oil well. Overnight they go from scruffy, paycheck to paycheck lives to billionaires. Dirty Money is the first book in the series and tells Boone and Ivy’s story.

Boone Price has worked hard and is now enjoying the privileges that come along with being disgustingly rich and hot. He may come across as having a lot of swagger, but Boone just wants to be accepted. He sets his sites on the wealthy and successful realtor who he imagines will make a perfect trophy wife. Review: Dirty Scoundrel by Jessica Clare

Reviewed by Jaimie

As a fan of Jessica Clare I find that I enjoy the “predictable” nature of her books. I like her writing style and the way she draws out her stories, and this one was no exception. Dirty Scoundrel is the second book in the Roughneck Billionaires series and I must admit I read out of order. I picked this one up first and then went back and read the first book because I liked it so much.

Clay Price is a disgustingly rich man who tries to come off as cold-hearted. He may have found success in the business world, but his personal life is not the greatest. After proposing to the love of his life years earlier, and being turned down, Clay threw himself into his business. Now he has the woman who broke his heart years ago right where he wants her. Review: Nauti Angel by Lora Leigh

I don’t know if I’m just overly emotional or what but Lora Leigh had me crying throughout Nauti Angel, the latest installment of her Nauti Girls series. We got a very brief glimpse of the heartache that was going to play out at the end of Nauti Seductress when Angel revealed that she was actually Chaya’s daughter who everyone thought had died at the age of three. It was a long wait but well worth it. Angel is one badass, wounded woman and I instantly loved her. [Read more…]

Review: Take To The Limit By Dawn Ryder

Take To The Limit is the fourth book in the Unbroken Heroes series by Dawn Ryder and once I started it I finished it in one shot. It wasn’t just Bram and Jaelyn that drew me in, we got to see more of their teammates, we got to visit with the couples from the earlier books, and I loved Jaelyn’s grandpa and sister too.

Bram Magnus is a hardcore military man, who has worked with Saxon and his team on a few occasions. When he isn’t officially offered a spot on their team he is set to head to Afghanistan for a six-month deployment. The day before he leaves, he goes to see his quasi-girlfriend LeeAnn but instead he finds her with another guy. He’s not even upset because, in reality, he knew she wasn’t the one. Her sister, on the other hand, is a totally different matter… [Read more…]

Review: Deep Into Trouble by Dawn Ryder

Deep Into Trouble is the third book in the Unbroken Heroes series by Dawn Ryder and this one grabs you from the get-go! Saxon and Ginger were a bit of an odd couple with one being spunky and fun and the other being serious and straight-laced. They worked in so many ways and you couldn’t help but cheer for them!

Ginger Boyce is a librarian who is dying to break out of her shell and live a little. While attending a conference in New Orleans she takes a walk on the wild side, with disastrous results. After witnessing a murder committed by a dangerous and elusive killer, Ginger is in desperate need of protection. Thankfully for her, Saxon’s team is tracking the same man. [Read more…]
