Review: Oath Forger (#2-#5) by Nia Mars

There’s a saying on Earth: “Fake it till you make it.” But Ava Smith isn’t on Earth anymore. In fact, she’s about as far from her old scavenger life in the Dallas Colony as she could possibly get. Still pretending to be the Oath Forger, her new motto is: “Fake it till you get caught.”

She’s doing the best she can, though. Honest.

And as if that wasn’t headache enough for one Earth-girl, she also finds herself falling hopelessly in love with the five hottest, most powerful rulers in the galaxy, all of whom want to be her first—and then some.

Who will she choose? Weeeell… [Read more…]

Review: Not Until You Part 1: Not Until You Dare by Roni Loren

I’ve had this in my Kindle for too long, embarrassingly long. It’s a very short read, actually only 75% of the pages told the story, the rest were promos for other stories, and from start to finish took me less than an hour to read.  Even short, it still took me over a couple of days because I just couldn’t get into the characters.  This is part 1 of 8 in Roni Loren’s ‘Love on the Edge’ series.

This is basically an introduction to roommates – Ian and Pike and their neighbor, through the thin apartment walls, Cela. All three live have lived in the same apartment complex for over a year so there’s some sense of familiarity. [Read more…]

Review: Oath Forger Book 1 by Nia Mars

After the collapse of everything Earth once was, only a few are left. Ava and Lily Smith are two such survivors, and they make their living—if it can be called that—by scavenging the ravaged surface. As the eldest of the two, Ava does what she has to for survival.

Especially after she’s kidnapped by space pirates.

Her rescue by Federation agents only makes things weirder, because now she’s suddenly been named the Oath Forger and earned the seemingly instant devotion of the five most powerful rulers in the universe. [Read more…]

Review: Claim by KM Scott

If you’ve not read any of the prior books, there’re going to be quite a few spoilers.

This is last book in Scott’s ‘Addicted to You’ series and picks up immediately after book 3. After Ian found out that Kristina slept with another man AND outed his secret identity as T. Anderson (the T & A stands for you know what), the author of the newest and greatest erotic novel, he breaks up with her. This time for good. But not really, remember when you were in grade school and you’d break up for a few hours and but then you’d get back together before you sat down to dinner that same evening. This is exactly the world of Ian and Kristina – not a sane and rational adult in either of them. [Read more…]

Review: Shatter by KM Scott

Spoiler alert all over this.

Book 3 in KM Scott’s Addicted to You series picks up 5 weeks after Kristina doesn’t go to Rome with Ian for his research trip. In Ian’s mind the trip was twofold – a research opportunity for his new historical and a vacation for the two of them to be away from prying eyes and have time to themselves. Unfortunately, instead of Kristina telling Ian that she’s got a great job opportunity for work, she says nothing and just strings Ian along.

So Ian’s in Rome by himself and he’s got that addiction to heroin that he can’t seems to beat unless he’s got Kristina; it’s not surprise to this reader that he goes on a bender. I mean he does it big – booze and heroin. The only thing he didn’t seem to do was pick up random strangers, but it wouldn’t have surprised me if he did. Once he gets back to the States, he does his stalking thing by going to Kristina’s street and gazing lovingly up towards her apartment window. She’s not there so he heads home and while he’s walking home he sees a gossip magazine cover with Kristina and some new fling they’re reporting about. Left dejected by Kristina again, Ian goes home gets smashingly drunk and calls up his dealer (who’s also his editor). A few minutes later, the bliss of oblivion and flying high. [Read more…]

Mayday! Mayday! Spoilers ahead (from book 1).

Book 2 picks up a week after Kristina walks out the door on Ian; he’s a hot mess. He’s drinking and doing it heavily. He doesn’t understand why she left because she didn’t say. She’s still freaked out about the ‘stalking incident’ in the newly penned erotic book for which he used her as his muse.

They’d already exchanged ‘I love you’ in their very short time together. I wouldn’t even consider their time as dating because the majority was spent having sex in his apartment and her listening to him in the afternoon as he read to her what he’d written that day. It’s a very one sided relationship. But separately, they’d each decided that they were addicted to each other. But I digress. [Read more…]

Review: Crave by KM Scott

This is my first book by KM Scott and the first in the Addicted to You series. While I enjoy reading from new authors I found myself slightly disappointed based completely on my own failings. I should have done some research before tackling this novella. I knew it was part of a series; however what I didn’t know based on the blurb is that it’s primarily erotica. I’m a big fan of that category but I’m also a big fan of a good and compelling story.

Told in alternating first person point of view, Ian and Kristina are a couple of young people who have a chance meeting – not really a chance meeting at all. Ian’s a well-known, published author living in his $5 million New York apartment (I’m already seeing an issue here because I gave up the (.)illionaire stories a long time ago). He’s an admitted addict. Right now, he’s an alcoholic who’s okay with that addiction because his other addition (heroin) is much more deadly to both his person and his career. His recent stint in rehab is still fresh in his mind and he’s committed to staying off the dope. [Read more…]

Review: Only Pleasure Part 3 by Lora Leigh

Lora Leigh doesn’t waste any time getting into the action for Part 3 of Only Pleasure. When Kia returns home, much to Chase’s dismay, they find that her apartment has been vandalized and all of her belongings trashed. The words Die Bitch and Whore are spray painted on her walls, and she is left terrified and confused. Chase believes immediately that it is Kia’s ex-husband behind the attacks, but she does not agree.

Knowing she cannot stay in her trashed apartment, Kia returns to Chase’s where he can keep a close eye on her. Although badly shaken by what has happened, Kia is determined to go to work and carry on with her life. I really admired her strength during all of these attacks. Most of all, she is scared for Chase’s safety and it is that simple act that seems to break through his defenses. He decides to wait until they figure out who is after her before he finally tells her he loves her. But at least he has admitted it to himself. [Read more…]

Part two of Only Pleasure by Lora Leigh begins with Kia questioning whether she can continue having a “pleasure only” relationship with Chase, while she is also beginning to tire of having Khalid present every time they are together. Chase Falladay is continuing to deny that he is in love with Kia Rutherford and his brother is becoming increasingly concerned about him. Cameron knows that Chase is holding himself away from Kia because of Moriah and he feels a sense of guilt over that. [Read more…]

Review: Only Pleasure Part 1 by Lora Leigh

Only Pleasure is the 10th book in the Bound Hearts series by Lora Leigh, and was reissued in three parts like Wicked Pleasure was earlier this year. Only Pleasure picks up six months after Chase was forced to kill Moriah Brockheim to protect his twin brother and his fiancé Jaci. The book starts off with the Epilogue which happens two years earlier. Chase, in his position as a protector for Ian Sinclair’s club, is forced to meet with Kia, the woman who fascinates him like no other and ask her to humiliate herself. After Kia’s husband assaulted her and tried to rape her, she confided in a friend about the exclusive club and that rumor was spreading fast. Chase cannot allow him that to happen, but he vows to do everything he can to protect her.

Chase Falladay is drowning in overwhelming guilt. He blames himself for not being aware that his brother Cameron was being pimped out by their evil aunt, and he knows that Cameron said nothing to protect him. Adding to that guilt, he considered Moriah a friend and he didn’t have any idea that she had been plotting his brother’s downfall. When he and Khalid see Kia in a bar alone one night he loses the fight to stay away from her, and he convinces himself that he can keep it strictly about the pleasure. [Read more…]
