Review: Deacon by Kit Rocha

I am really enjoying the books in this series so far. Gideons Riders is a spinoff from Kit Rocha’s Beyond series. I did not read those books, but the spinoff will give you no trouble if you are a new reader.

If the name didn’t give it away, this is Deacon’s book. He is the leader of the Riders, tough as nails, but no one really knows him. Turns out, he is a former assassin who was once hired to kill Gideon, the man they all serve with unwavering loyalty. Unfortunately, his old band of killers is back, and it seems that they have come to collect their wayward assassin. Deacon has to finally come clean to the team who has trusted and respected him for so long. [Read more…]

I was a little concerned when I realized that this book was a spinoff of Kit Rocha’s Beyond series. I’ve read from this duo’s alter ego, Moira Rogers, before, but I have not read the books featuring the famous O’Kanes, so I figured I might be lost here. I am happy to report that this is a great place to step into this world. I had absolutely no problem acclimating to it and I was never lost, nor did I feel like I was the odd man out of an inside joke. So if the same fear has you on the fence about this book, don’t worry about it. Let yourself jump in. You’ll be glad you did. [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Possession by Kit Rocha

Note: Though this novella is meant as a stand alone, I feel that the reader will be missing a great deal of information about the dystopian world it is set in.  However, those who have read at least one of the Beyond books can read the story at any time.

Tatiana Stone learned growing up as the daughter of the ruthless former leader of Sector Four that it’s best to try to be as small as you can.  Those lessons paid off later in life after her father was deposed and Tatiana had to claim a space of her own.  She’s managed to carve out an existence for herself as a sector merchant making soaps, salves and oils, and careful not to take any sides with any unrest.  Complicating matters is her sister’s relationship with a man from her father’s old guard that is currently stirring things up for the O’Kanes. Tatiana is getting burned out from constant vigilance and lonely because of her position, but one man takes away all of her weariness with his weekly visits. [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Solitude by Kit Rocha

Note: Though this novella is meant as a stand alone, I feel that a new reader will be missing a great deal of information about the dystopian world it is set in.  The story takes place at the same time as Beyond Jealousy. However, those who have read at least one of the Beyond books can read the story at any time.

Derek Ford is the man behind the scenes for the O’Kane gang.  His job is to travel around making deals to get the supplies needed for the O’Kane booze.  Ford loves the solitude his job brings and Dallas has always given him a little more leeway to get deals done.  All of that comes to a stop when Ford peels out and crashes his bike in a more rural part of Sector Four.  [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Jealousy by Kit Rocha

I’m not going to lie to you all.  I was nervous going into this book because I knew the romance was with Ace, Rachel and Cruz.  While I don’t mind ménage in my erotica, it’s not really my thing.  With that in mind, I will admit that it may have colored the way I saw this book.  Just a quick reminder, that this is the fourth book in the series and that they should be read in order. Review: Marked by Kit Rocha, Vivian Arend, and Lauren Dane

Ooooh lord, this anthology might set your e-reader (and panties) on fire!  I’ve said before that I don’t care for novellas, but some of my favorite authors have been cranking out some great ones!  Let’s break it down.

Beyond Temptation
by Kit Rocha (Grade: B)

This is set in the dystopian world of Sector Four.  It works ok as a standalone if you haven’t read the other books, but you really should because they are that good.  [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Pain

When the first book, Beyond Shame, was recommended to me as dystopian erotica, I was very skeptical.  My first thoughts were: it’s not in my normal wheelhouse of what I usually read and what the hell is dystopian erotica anyway? However, because so many bloggers and authors whose opinions I trust were raving, I decided to take a chance.  I am so glad I did because this series is defining what erotica should be: a compelling story interwoven with an off the charts sexual narrative.  If you haven’t started this series yet, go grab Beyond Shame.

Dallas O’Kane has taken over Sector 3, but it’s still a mess.  Things are starting to move fast and Dallas wants his right hand on the pulse.  Dallas wants Bren to take Six with him in hopes that her knowledge will help to foster goodwill and help get the sector under control. [Read more…]

Review: Beyond Control

Remember when I told you to go read Beyond Shame for an unusually awesome erotic novel?  If you didn’t, turn back and go do it. If you did, welcome back for some more raunchy good times with the O’Kane gang as they continue to build their empire in the Sectors.  Book two in the Beyond series brings us Dallas and Lex’s story.

I was anxiously awaiting their story. Dallas is the ultimate alpha.  He is the self-made boss of Sector Four.  He fought his own way and formed his own gang.  No one dares to challenge Dallas except Lex and Lex is the only one Dallas lets get away with it.   They’ve had this push/pull thing going on even though it’s obvious to just about everyone that there is deep feeling between the two.  [Read more…]

Dystopian erotica, you say? What the hell is that?  It’s the first book a series by Kit Rocha (the writing team of Bree Bridges & Donna Herren who also write under the pen name Moira Rogers).

Rocha has created a dystopian world that seems much like the Hunger Games.  There is the main city, Eden, where the wealthy and elite live.  Then there are the Sectors, land that had been destroyed by solar flares, where the rest of humanity has to scrounge and fight to survive. [Read more…]
