Review: Rebels and Lovers by Linnea Sinclair

It hurts my heart to say this, but I did not love this book.

That stinks for a lot of reasons. Like the fact that I adored the earlier installments in the series. Or that I was starting to think that Linnea Sinclair could do no wrong. Or perhaps because this is the last in the Dock Five series. More than likely, it’s all of these things put together. And though this book wasn’t bad, I am walking away bummed from a series that has, by and large, rocked my socks off until now.

The story centers on Devin Guthrie, younger brother to the last book’s hero, Philip. He’s about to be strong-armed by his father into a society marriage when his nephew, Trippy, goes missing. Devin defies his family’s wishes to go in search of the young man in fear for his safety. Armed with his super-smarts, his ninja-like elderly butler, and determination, he embarks on a journey to the seedy Dock Five to track him down. [Read more…]

Review: Hope’s Folly by Linnea Sinclair

Just when I thought I knew exactly where this series was going, this book proved me wrong. This is not a third installment of Chas and Sully’s story. Now we are breaking away to see Phillip get his HEA.

This is a standalone romance, but the bigger picture of the story arc is really a continuation from the first two books, so I would suggest you read those first. When we first met Philip in Gabriel’s Ghost, I really thought he would be fodder for a love triangle, but it didn’t go that way. And though the author did establish he was not the right man for Chas, she did a great job of setting him up as a guy who deserved a happy ending. Philip is a good man who takes his service seriously. And now he has joined the rag tag group of rebels fighting against those plotting to unravel society. [Read more…]

Review: Shades of Dark by Linnea Sinclair

Wow. To think I almost didn’t jump right into this book. After reading Gabriel’s Ghost, I felt kind of like Chas and Sully’s love story was complete. Obviously, there were threads left open in the larger story arc, but it felt like a good stopping place. In fact, I thought perhaps the world would continue following other characters in that book. Ren maybe… or Phillip. I was wrong. There is still a ton left to mine between our main characters.

As this installment begins, three months have passed since the last book. Chas is completely in love with Sully and he, her. But the big issue is that he has not finished learning what he is and what he can do. His bond with Chas is making him even stronger and he doesn’t know what to do with his growing power.

Meantime, there is another breeding installation that they need to take down and the politics of the world they live in are coming to a boiling point. They need help. Enter an informant named Del. [Read more…]

Review: Gabriel’s Ghost by Linnea Sinclair

I’ll admit, it took me a little while to really get into this book. But I have read from this author before, and I enjoyed the other book so much, I really wanted to give this a chance. I’m so glad that I did because I totally ended up a fan of this one too.

The story centers on Chas, a pilot who was convicted of a crime she did not commit and sentenced to spend the rest of her life on a dangerous prison planet. But after just a few weeks there, she is rescued by an unlikely savior. Chas thought Gabriel Sullivan had been dead for two years. Before then, she had gone round and round in small skirmishes with the rogue space pirate. They’d even shared kisses. But she did not think she could trust him. Now she doesn’t have much of a choice. Review: Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair

I’ve been on the hunt for a good sci-fi romance and this 10 year-old stand-alone from Linnea Sinclair absolutely hit the spot. Not every element was perfect, but it was sexy and angsty and hit all my happy buttons with a virgin cyborg hero that falls in love despite the restrictions of his programming.

Tasha “Sass” Sebastian is a hotshot pilot with a unsavory past she is trying to leave behind. Her latest assignment puts her under the command of Admiral Branden Kel-Paten, her long-timeĀ  sparring partner and not-quite nemesis. The buttoned-up, icy commander is mechanically enhanced, and she enjoys matching wits with him. She has no idea that he’s secretly been in love with her for years. [Read more…]
