I am struggling to find the words to tell you how much I loved this without sounding like a mindless squee-machine. The first book in the series, Fortune’s Pawn, was great… I had a little trouble with parts of book two. But this final book in the trilogy gave me everything I wanted and everything I needed. It’s action-packed, emotional, and satisfying in every way. I’m still cheering inside.

If you haven’t read the books leading up to this, stop here and pick up Fortune’s Pawn. You’ll thank me. Spoilers for the previous installments are ahead.

If you caught my review of book one in this series, you know how much I adored it. You would also know that installment ended on a gnarly cliffhanger. Not only that, he did something to her mind to make her feel revulsion just from looking at him. It was the only way to protect her from knowledge that could endanger her life. It was a great holy crap moment, but it made for a frustrating first third of this book. Devi is still Devi… she is still brash and bold with great instincts and even greater ambition. But there is a hole in her memories which has her stumbling around in the dark. [Read more…]

I have so many things to say now that I have finished this book. The one first and foremost in my mind: HOW DARE IT END THIS WAY??? Seriously, I cursed words most foul at my ereader when I realized it was over. I won’t spoil it, but I guarantee it will leave you one-clicking book two before you can blink. (Thank God I am reading this years after it released or there might be a hole in the wall from my temper tantrum.) That leads me to point two: this book is expensive! You’ll rarely find me reference a price tag in the review but the ebook on this was $10 on Amazon (which is more than I want to spend on an older title) – BUT I was lucky enough to find it at the library. I don’t know if book 2 is there, but that brings me to my third and final point. This book was so good, I will totally pay 10 bucks for the sequel if the library doesn’t have it, because I am totally hooked. [Read more…]
